Shelby Walker is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and a graduate of Pelham High School where his band director was Mr. Jim Duren. He attended the University of Alabama, where he was a member of the "Million Dollar Band," the Alabama Jazz Ensemble, Alabama Symphonic Band and the coveted Alabama Wind Ensemble, receiving the Bachelor of Science (Music Education - Instrumental) degree.

As a performer, Mr. Walker serves as solo euphonium of the "Jericho Brass Band," a British style brass band based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is also a member of the Chattanooga Tuba Quartet, and a member of the Up Town Big Band.
